I am a Certified Transactional Analysis Psychotherapist (CTA-P) and a Provisional Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst in Psychotherapy (PTSTA-P). I have been in private practice since 2014 and currently work online with adult clients. I offer both open-ended and time-limited psychotherapy, with the length of work agreed collaboratively according to need. My practice is relational and grounded in Transactional Analysis, with attention to the co-created therapeutic relationship. I also offer clinical supervision to counsellors and psychotherapists. I understand supervision as a collaborative and reflective process that holds both the client and the practitioner’s clinical work as central. I am particularly interested in working with practitioners who are experienced in working with adults, including online practice.

Adults

I am a Leeds-based therapist, and I offer sessions online, or face-to-face in Leeds. I have experience working in both long and short term therapy contracts. I offer a free 20 minute phone consultation for people considering beginning their therapeutic journey with me. To get in touch please email helenatherapy@hotmail.com. I am passionate about transactional analysis psychotherapy, having experienced first-hand the profound and meaningful impact it can have on your life. My training, personal therapy, and clinical supervision, have provided space for me to understand myself, improve my relationships, and facilitate change. In turn, as a psychotherapist I strive to work with the individual to explore themselves, their history, and their emotional landscape. My commitment to working in an empowering and respectful way seeks to honour each individual's journey and process. I am curious about how our past impacts our present, and how we can explore this together in a relational and collaborative way in therapy. I have experience of working with anxiety, depression, sexual violence, relationships, family dynamics, gender, sexuality, neurodiversity, and grief. Outside of my role as a therapist I work for a small charity that supports women and girls who have experienced sexual violence. I am passionate about social justice with particular commitment to womens’ rights, trans rights and anti-racism. My work and passions inform how I work as a psychotherapist, and I am ever-curious about intersectionality and power in the therapeutic space. I also enjoy and take solace in tarot, film, and walking through the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.

Therapy for people living visible lives under invisible pressure. It begins with "Hello”, but what do you say after Hello? It's the start of a conversation. A moment in time to untangle, reflect, and rediscover what matters. There is no script, and no expectation to perform. I work with people who are often seen, relied upon, or expected to hold things together – creatives, performers, and LGBTQ+ adults whose inner worlds don’t always have space elsewhere. This is a place for honesty rather than polish, curiosity rather than fixing. If you feel ready to begin, we can start with a simple conversation. I’m JJ Almond. I work with people who live visible, expressive lives but carry pressure that isn’t always seen. Many of the people who find their way to me are executives, creatives, performers, and LGBTQ+ professionals — people who are emotionally aware, capable, and often outwardly confident, yet privately wrestling with self-doubt, burnout, or a sense of disconnection. You might be used to showing up for others, holding things together, or performing a version of yourself that works, while not having much space to explore how you actually feel. I work online with clients across the UK. Therapy with me is a place where you don’t need to explain yourself or get it “right”. Our work is reflective rather than performative, curious rather than clinical, and paced in a way that allows things to unfold without pressure. I’m interested in understanding the patterns that shape your relationships, creativity, and sense of self — and in creating a space where something more honest can emerge. If this resonates, we can begin with a brief introductory conversation to see whether working together feels right.

Who I work with:

Adults, couples

I specialise in working with women and couples navigating periods of change, uncertainty, and emotional overwhelm. Life transitions can quietly unsettle everything; relationships, identity, confidence, and your sense of self. You might be feeling anxious, stuck, disconnected, or carrying the weight of a difficult childhood into adult life. For some, this shows up in motherhood; for others, in relationships, work, or a persistent sense that something isn’t quite right. You don’t have to manage it alone. Since 2022, I’ve worked primarily in the voluntary sector, supporting unpaid carers, alongside many years of experience working with autistic children, adults, and their families. This work has shaped how I practice, with sensitivity to trauma, nervous system overwhelm, and the long-term impact of growing up without feeling fully seen or safe. At the heart of my work is creating a space where you can slow down and be met without judgement or expectation. A place to untangle what feels heavy, understand the patterns that keep repeating, and reconnect with parts of yourself that may have been pushed aside. My approach is relational, thoughtful, and down-to-earth. Using Transactional Analysis, we explore how your early experiences shape the way you think, feel, and relate, to yourself and to others. Whether you’re coming alone or as a couple, our work is about building awareness, strengthening emotional safety, and supporting meaningful change. Therapy with me isn’t about fixing you. It’s about helping you make sense of your story, so you can move forward with more clarity, steadiness, and self-compassion.

Who I work with:

Individuals and Couples

I am a psychotherapist, supervisor, and trainer with a background in Transactional Analysis and Mentalization-Based approaches. My work is relational, reflective, and process-focused, with attention to how people make sense of themselves and others in the here-and-now. I work with adults and couples presenting with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and questions of identity, meaning, and belonging. I have particular experience working cross-culturally and with clients who feel ‘stuck’ despite considerable insight or previous therapy. As a Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst (Psychotherapy), I also offer supervision and training. My clinical stance integrates contemporary TA with developmental and mentalizing perspectives, supporting both emotional depth and psychological flexibility. I practice with sensitivity to culture, migration, and lived context, and aim to create a therapeutic relationship that is thoughtful, collaborative, and emotionally safe.

I will be pleased if you contact me and send me information on your needs for counselling, psychotherapy, supervision and tutoring. I am a qualified psychotherapist in Transactional Analysis and have worked in this field for many years. I have also been a Lecturer and Tutor for the Open and Kingston Universities, so I am experienced with working with adult learners studying and changing career pathways. I taught child development and developmental psychology and this became integrated into my training in psychotherapy. This was particularly evident reviewing and applying attachment theory to my work with clients who presented with a variety of attachment styles. I have worked as a Professional adviser for the Charity Young Minds – supporting parents with children with Mental health difficulties and as a Clinical Supervisor at a women’s centre. I also used to be a trainer for NHS England delivering training to teachers and lecturers on their Youth Mental Health First Aid programme. I have been and I am a currently an examiner in the South East of England for Counsellor and Psychotherapy Examinations. I support students with some tutoring in academic writing skills. I have a confidential private space to work in my office at the end of the garden, which is where I see my own clients and supervisees in private practice either face to face or online.

I am a relational transactional analyst counsellor. I use a combination of approaches and will adapt my style to suit your needs. Together, we focus on building self-awareness, confidence, and a stronger sense of who you are by joining the dots between yourself so you can make choices that feel more authentic and freeing in your day-to-day life. Therapy can feel daunting at first, so for those who are interested, I can use projective and creative techniques to help people bring their feelings and thoughts to life. One key approach employed is using Relational Transactional Analysis, which simply means I believe meaningful change happens through real, honest, and supportive relationships. Consequently, I endeavour to offer a warm and collaborative environment. My work is grounded in the present moment, but we also explore how past experiences and relationships may still influence how you feel, think, and relate to others today. Many of us develop patterns that once helped us cope but no longer serve us. By understanding where these patterns come from, we can begin to create new, healthier ways of relating to ourselves and those around us. I pay close attention to the impact of the social environment and the many layers that shape identity. Oppressive structures connected to race, gender, class, neurodiversity, and religion can create profound feelings of alienation and trauma. I offer Neurodivergent-affirming and LGBTQI+-affirming therapy. We are all wired differently, and understanding our neurological and identity-based experiences can be deeply grounding. This can be especially valuable for those wanting to explore neurodiversity (ADHD/Autism ) diagnosis or Gender, Sex and Relationship Diversity (GSRD).

I’m an Integrative Psychotherapist based in St Helier, Jersey. My work is rooted in Transactional Analysis and guided by values of authenticity, compassion, and human connection. I offer a warm, attuned space where clients can gently explore the layers of their experience and begin to reconnect with their own sense of vitality and wholeness. I work with adults navigating trauma, loss and bereavement, stress, anxiety, and self-esteem challenges. My approach integrates somatic and polyvagal-informed practices, mindfulness, and attachment-based theory within a deeply relational frame. I believe that meaningful change arises through presence, trust, and the courage to be met as we are, in both our pain and our potential. I believe therapy should be accessible to everyone. To support this, I offer a limited number of sliding-scale spaces for those who may find my standard rate difficult to afford.
