Sponsor Spotlight: TA East London Counselling & Psychotherapy Institute
TA East London Counselling & Psychotherapy Institute sponsored the UKATA National Conference 2026, helping bring our TA community together for three days of learning, connection and conversation.
As part of its sponsorship package, we’re pleased to share this spotlight on the institute and its training opportunities.
Building a diverse therapeutic community
Founded in 2018 in an East London library, TA East London set out to build a diverse therapeutic community that reflects the communities and contexts in which it works.
Eight years on, the institute is based in a community building in Leyton, East London, providing accredited counselling and psychotherapy training.
An intersectional approach runs throughout its curriculum, bringing social, cultural, political and historical contexts into theory, process and practice.
Counselling and psychotherapy training
TA East London offers part-time counselling and psychotherapy courses leading towards professional qualification and accreditation with UKCP, NCPS and BACP.
Courses run alongside one another, allowing students to learn with colleagues pursuing different qualification routes. Teaching takes place once a month from October to July, on Friday evenings and throughout Saturday.
Training combines structured teaching with group process, paired exercises and group work.
Qualification routes
The institute offers training towards the following qualifications:
Therapeutic Intersectional Counsellor – Level 6: a three-year, part-time route leading towards NCPS accreditation.
Intersectional Psychotherapist – Level 7: a four-year, part-time route at master’s level, leading towards UKCP registration.
Certified Transactional Analyst Psychotherapist – Level 7: a four-year, part-time route at master’s level, leading towards UKCP registration.
Clinical Supervisor – Level 7: a six-month, part-time programme leading towards BACP, NCPS or UKCP registration.
