About me and my practice:

I am passionate about Relational supervsion. For me, supervision is a first and foremost a holding and supportive relationship, which provides a context for you to explore and develop your professional practice.

It is a Co-creative relationship which goes beyond the two people in the room to safely contain the process of individual, couples and group therapy clients, and beyond.
Supervision is a space to explore your creativity, your process and the edges of your practice. It is also a safe space to explore the shadow, unconscious side of therapeutic relationships and your own practice as you learn and grow.

You might be a student beginning placement, a maturing student exploring final exams and venturing into private practice or a seasoned professional looking for more of a peer to peer relationship. In supervision, I aim to offer you the right learning environment for the stage you are at right now, as well as help in resolving difficult client issues and support with personal issues impacting on your practice (we all face those). I can also support you with BACP Accreditation and Senior Accreditation, and UKCP Registration.

Although there are many different models of supervision, after more than a decade as a supervisor my own supervision practice probably best reflects one of the first I learned.

Formative – providing a supportive and nurturing environment for you to grow into the best practitioner you can be, true to your authentic self and style;

Normative – guidance and assistance, or a sounding board, through those tricky ethical situations and dilemmas;</h5>

Restorative – this work is demanding. Supervsion is a place to refresh, replenish and ‘get back to you’.

I am a PTSTA (P), which means a supervisior and trainer in TA psychotherapy. My supervision meets the training requirements of EATA and the ITAA, as well as UKCP and BACP. I hold a Diploma in Clinical Supervsion from the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute, and I offer supervision to psychotherapists, psychotherapeutic counsellors, and other professionals.

My supervision practice draws on twenty years and more than ten thousand clinical hours experience of working with clients and supervisees in varied settings, including NHS, industry, EAPs, domestic violence and rape crisis, low cost counselling charities, schools, hospice and private practice, as well as the practical experience of setting up and managing a local counselling centre for ten years, www.oldsurgerycounselling.co.uk, which is still thriving.

My own therapeutic approach is Transactional Analysis, but I am trained in supervision across modalities and practised for ten years or so as an Integrative counsellor before further training in Transactional Analysis psychotherapy.  I have experience of supervising Independent Domestic Violence Advisers (IDVAs) as well as counsellors and psychotherapists. I was a tutor for more than a decade on the Open University/ CPCAB Foundation Degree in Counselling which includes a range of approaches to therapy, and see all the different approaches as having their own strengths and value.

My rate is £65 an hour (with a TA student rate of £55). I also offer 3 hour supervision to groups of three for £55 per person. See my website at www.TAith.uk. Do contact me at kate.hardy5@gmail.com to discuss further.
