Hello, my name is Kate Hardy and I am a counsellor, psychotherapist (Certified Transactional Analyst, UKCP Registered, BACP Senior Accredited) and supervisor (PTSTA-P) with 24 years of clinical experience. I specialise in treating trauma, working outdoors, body psychotherapy including EMDR, and working with groups, relationships and couples.

Psychotherapy for me is a shared journey of discovery. I use TA relationally to help you make sense of the things which have happened in the context of your life story and the transitions and changes you have gone through. My approach to TA encompasses body, mind, nature and wider social context.

Counselling and psychotherapy can help you with specific issues in the here and now or traumatic memories that may be troubling you. It can also be a longer journey of self discovery leading to lasting change. You might find it helpful if you would like to: talk through difficult experiences you have had or are having; develop skills and self confidence; adjust to changed circumstances; think through tough decisions; understand yourself better; deal with problem thoughts, behaviour or reltionships; or face painful memories from the past.

You my be experiencing the effects of anxiety such as intrusive thoughts or panicky feelings. Perhaps you have experienced trauma in the past that you now feel ready to deal with. You might be looking for positive changes in health, caring, setting boundaries, family problems or relationships. You might be feeling sadness or low mood right now. 

As a Supervisor, I am passionate about providing supervision which provides you with a restorative space to be an ethical, skilled and well supported practitioner. I offer supervision to counsellors, psychotherapists and other professionals and am fully qualified to supervise TA student Psychotherapists.

I trained as a Clinical Supervisor at the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute in 2014, when I already had 10 years clinical experience. My supervision draws on over 10,000 hours experience of working with clients in different settings, as well as the practical experience of managing a local counselling centre. 

For me, supervision is a first and foremost a holding and supportive relationship, which provides a context for you to explore and develop your own professional practice and therapeutic relationships in a safe, supportive and creative way. My own approach is Transactional Analysis, but I am trained in supervision across modalities.  I have experience of supervising Independent Domestic Violence Advisers (IDVAs) as well as counsellors and psychotherapists. I was a Tutor for ten years on the Open University/ CPCAB Foundation Degree in Counselling which covers a range of modalities, and see all modalities as having their own strengths and value.

My rate is £70 an hour, or £60 for TA students. I can also offer 3 hour supervision to groups of three. Do give me a call on to discuss further.
