I am a qualified Psychologist and a UKATA and BACP registered Counsellor. I had my advanced clinical training in TA Psychotherapy practice. Before I trained to work as a counsellor, I worked as a psychologist in academia and have been working as a social researcher for the last twenty years in different organisations. I have substantial amount of expertise both in working with people from different backgrounds and in researching on a wide range of topics all very relevant to my client work.
I am trained in Transactional Analysis (TA) which is a form of modern psychology that aims to promote personal change and growth using a set of tools. The application of TA tools can be a very effective way of thinking about the unconscious processes that drive our thoughts, feelings and behaviours within any given situation and in all relationships.
If you are experiencing Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), depression, grief/loss, social anxiety and trauma, our mutually agreed treatment plan for your needs can help you gain your sense of self again so that you can start enjoying your life. Life is full of challenges and different phases of our lives bring their own issues with them. Working on our part when dealing with these difficulties will bring about significant changes to the way we relate to significant others in our lives. I can help you identify what is getting in the way so that you can work on eliminating them to have a more fulfilled life.
Building on our emotional literacy is a game changer. When we're able to tune into our own emotions and develop awareness of our 'emotional reference', we will become more aware of recognising it in others. This has a significant positive impact on improving our relationship with ourselves and with others, leading us having a more joyful and enjoyable life.

Who I work with:

I provide a confidential and safe space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings so we can understand your frame of reference and focus on what feels important to you. Being listened to by someone empathic and in a place free of judgement is a powerful way for you to make sense of what is going on for you. Together we can build on your inner resources and resilience helping you to experience a more fulfilling life.
My approach is 'relational' whereby our relationship is an integral part of the work we do together. It is through the here-and-now of our relationship that we can uncover historical patterns of thinking, feeling, behaving, creating awareness of how these patterns may impact you and the way you relate in the present. We will focus on your wants and needs and together we will explore what you hope to achieve in our time together and what it is you would like to change.

Adults and young people
We all experience times in our lives when we feel overwhelmed, distressed, sad, anxious, depressed or notice that we are not experiencing our “hoped for” relationships with ourselves or others.
Having a safe space and someone to talk to can really make a difference.
I believe that time spent focusing on our relationship with ourselves and others, can offer us the chance to see and understand our experiences differently; creating space for new and healthier outcomes.
As a counsellor and CT Psychotherapist, I use TA framework as the basis for my practice.
Calm, methodical and compassionate, I work within in a humanistic and Integrative framework, influenced by body Psychotherapy and Neurobiology. As such, I believe that relationship with my client is key and work with the need of individual based on what is relevant for them.
Honesty, integrity and empathy lie at the heart of my work along with providing and holding safe boundaries in which people can explore and make meaning from their experience.
I have many years experience working with both adults and children across the public and private sectors, supporting them through challenging times.
I have experience working with children and young people, adult bereavement, and drug and alcohol addiction, domestic abuse and domestic violence, dis-regulated eating, anxiety and trauma.

Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is an opportunity to look at yourself and how you are with the world in a safe, confidential environment. As a therapist I am there to facilitate awareness of your options and possible choices in a supportive way.
The initial consultation is an opportunity for us to discuss your needs and to make a decision about whether we wish to work together.
The sessions will take place in Llandeilo or on- line and will last for 50 minutes. Sessions usually take place on a weekly basis, the total number of which will depend on your individual requirements.
I also offer telephone counselling if appropriate
Couples Therapy
Relationships with others, particularly within marriages and partnerships, is something we all have problems with at some point in our lives. There may come a time when the issues appear to be so overwhelming that a solution seems to be impossible. The ability to relate effectively is of vital importance to all of us. Couples therapy is an opportunity to discuss issues such as conflict, family stress, unmet personal and relationship needs in a 'neutral territory' with an unbiased observer who can provide feedback and information coupled with confidential and non-judgemental support.
Sessions usually last 60 or 90 minutes and can take place on a weekly basis, the total number of which will depend on your individual requirements.
Group Therapy
What is Group Therapy?
A group of people that come together with a Group leader who acts as the facilitator and provides an environment that is both supportive and challenging. Transactional analysis was originally practised as a group therapy as its emphasis has always been on understanding interactions.
What are some of the advantages of Group Therapy?
Groups generate a social environment in which clients can benefit from each other’s work, which may then enable them to gain insight or may trigger other issues for them.
MIndfulness Courses
Finding a way to relax and escape the stress and anxieties of life is difficult to do. If your curious about meditation, how to start, how it can help you to help yourself, if you like the idea of spending more time in the present moment. Mindfulness meditation whether its the 8 week MBSR course or individual sessions combined with Psychotherapy contact me.
